At the Intersection of MI and DBT: The Spirit of Acceptance

Join us as we explore the benefits of cultivating an acceptance mindset. Acceptance is promoted in not only MI but also in other mindfulness-based therapies and 12-Step programs. We will explore the similarities and differences between the MI and DBT use of acceptance. We will also practice ways to access acceptance and discuss ways acceptance can be used to promote wellness during the COVID and racism pandemics.

Objectives:

By the end of this meeting, we hope to help you

Identify at least two different approaches to understanding the concept of acceptance and its application to promoting wellness

Apply at least two exercises to help individuals experience and understand the acceptance process
