know the major components of the coding process using the MITI 4.2.1 coding system (Moyers, Manuel, & Ernst, 2014), including assessing globals, parsing utterances, and behavior counts.
-
know the major components of providing MITI 4.2.1 coding feedback in a coaching process parallel to Motivational Interviewing.
-
understand the importance of coding practice with and without transcripts and developing inter-coder consistency for effective use of the MITI 4.2.1 coding system.
