Facilitator-led Online Advanced

Advanced Motivational Interviewing (up to 15 participants)

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, evidence-based, goal-oriented method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence with the individual. This active, skill-building workshop provides participants with an understanding of the benchmarks for competent MI practice, as well as opportunities to build skills toward those benchmarks in practice conversations. Participants will also learn to integrate Brief Action Planning into their use of MI, and are encouraged to consider ongoing training and coached practice to continue to develop their skills. Participants should participate in Basic and Intermediate Motivational Interviewing courses before taking this course, as the level and pace of the course will assume a thorough knowledge of MI.

The Advanced Motivational Interviewing workshop is a six-hour event presented over the course of two sessions. Continuing education credit for this training has been approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), and the Commission on Certification of Rehabilitation Counselors (CCRC).
