Abstract | Based on a description of developments in the drug treatment system in Germany, especially considering out-patient consultancy and care and the evident deficits in professionalism, a recently developed method for support will be introduced. This method is being used in an ongoing heroin study. In this case two different approaches were combined: case management and motivational interviewing. For several years there has been increasing interest in these two methods, in the welfare system in general as well as in the drug treatment system. Various studies exist of each method regarding their effects as well as weaknesses. With this in view, a method was developed which combines the supporting elements and contributes to more professionalism in social work with drug addicts. The article Introduces the approach and discusses the first practical experiences. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) (journal abstract) |
