Abstract | Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic anxiety disorder marked by recurrent, intrusive, and distressing thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions). In this chapter, we describe a brief readiness program developed for treatment-refusing OCD patients that incorporates elements of motivational interviewing (MI) in hopes of resolving ambivalence and preparing patients to enter exposure and response prevention (ERP) treatment.
