Abstract

A meta-analysis was conducted on seven controlled clinical trials investigating the efficacy of Motivational Interviewing on dually-diagnosed patients. Efficacy was defined differently in the studies: some were compliance with treatment (e.g. session attendance) whereas others were abstinence or reduction in drug use. Contrary to the author's hypothesis, the results did not support the efficacy of Motivational Interviewing in dually-diagnosed participants.
