Approved for 3 Ethics CE hours through the New Mexico Counseling & Therapy Practice Board and the New Mexico Social Work Board.
Helping people change carries both clinical possibility and ethical responsibility. This interactive 3-hour training explores Motivational Interviewing through the lenses of autonomy, influence, values, reflective practice, and metaphor.
Through clinical stories, experiential exercises, discussion, and guided reflection, participants will examine how helping professionals influence change while honoring client autonomy, culture, values, and lived experience. We will explore how to recognize and work with client metaphors, listen beneath language for meaning and motivation, and use MI principles to navigate ethically complex conversations.
This workshop welcomes professionals who are new to Motivational Interviewing as well as those interested in deepening an established practice.
