Approved for Cultural CE hours through the New Mexico Counseling & Therapy Practice Board and the New Mexico Social Work Board.
This training explores the intersection of Motivational Interviewing, attachment, trauma, culture, and intergenerational healing through the concepts of Ghosts and Angels in the Nursery. Drawing from the work of Fraiberg, Lieberman, and Main, participants will examine how early relational experiences may remain active in the present and how benevolent memories of feeling loved, understood, safe, protected, accepted, or like we belonged can become psychologically available resources. Janeth will introduce Following the Angel Threads, a clinical framework and interview for deepening these memories through relational meaning, identity, psychological availability, culture, and legacy. Using MI Spirit and microskills, recorded interviews, clinical vignettes, and experiential practice, participants will learn to follow these threads while preserving client autonomy and allowing meaning to emerge from the client’s own experience.
