I have been working as a therapist and clinical supervisor in the field of addictions for 27 years. I have worked in Residential and Outpatient settings with both adults and adolescents, in Canada, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. A Member of MINT since 2008 I have been a Lead Trainer for Paul Burke Training and Consulting Group and have done workshops and trainings with a variety of populations including Aboriginal social workers and counselors, healthcare workers, recreation therapists, adolescent group home workers, mental health, addictions, veteran’s affairs and corrections workers. I have been an Adjunct Professor at the School of Social Work, Dalhousie University, where I taught Advanced Practice Skills and Counselling.
Mary holds an MSW degree and is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) . She has more than 20 years of experience as a therapist, clinical supervisor and manager in both out-patient and residential treatment settings. She also instructs within the school of Social Work at Dalhousie University. Mary has solid experience in the use of Motivational Interviewing with mandated clients and also consults with organizations who are interested in organizational capacity-building. In addition to completing extensive MI training in both Canada and the US, Mary has conducted MI workshops with a variety of populations including First Nations social workers and counsellors, recreation therapists, adolescent group home workers, mental health, addictions and corrections workers. She now provides MI training workshops throughout Canada. Her flexible schedule allows Mary to accommodate client needs. Mary also co-instructs some courses with Paul Burke.
