I am a registered psychiatric nurse and clinical team leader at a dynamic psychiatric crisis response centre/stabilization unit in central Canada. As such, I work amidst a multi-disciplinary team that attends to those who enter our centre seeking crisis resolution. Common entrance concerns involve psychiatric decompensation, substance use adversities, risk associated with acute suicidality, and other volatile concerns.
I have acted as a mental health clinician, addictions specialist, clinical supervisor, educator, and consultant for many years and hold a strong concern for the well being of my clients. Of personal importance is my ongoing efforts to maintain a small case load as a means to maintain an eye on my own clinical practice.
I offer memorable & stimulating MI workshops with a focus on concurrent disorders, and the efficacy of MI, under critical, high pressured conditions.
I appreciate the utilization of MI through the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies (telehealth) to support and promote long-distance clinical health care.
I am proficient in the use of the MITI (Version 4.2.1) for Coding and Coaching.
I integrate Motivational Interviewing with Crisis Theory and recognize the clinical affinity between MI and CBT.
