More About Me

About Me

I served this great country for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the service I worked as a police officer for a couple of years, then worked undercover for a couple of years with the DEA riding with midwest motorcycle gangs. Then got into the counseling and the intervention fields which were somewhat less stressful.. I was a Substance Abuse Counselor for 5 years before becoming a Probation Officer. As a substance abuse counselor, I was a certified ROPES Facilitator, a MANDT trainer, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and set up the Interventions Aftercare Program at our Judicial Treatment Center. I have been a Probation Officer for 23 years now. I have been training officers and counselors in M/I since 2004 the first 3 years with Dr. Scott Walters. We have used the MITI to rate interviews done by our officers, as well as transcribe their interviews and provide on going feedback to these officers for continuing improvement. I am the Vice Chairman of the Texas Motivational Interviewing Cooperative at present. I have done M/I training for Adult Probation/Juvenile Probation, Law Enforcement, and chemical dependency. I am retiring from Dallas County CSCD in March 2016 and look forward to doing more trainings for departments at that time. I retired from Dallas County CSCD in August 2016 and am available for training for your department at anytime. Look forward to assisting and assembling a team to help your orgaization be the best it can be,
