Motivational Interviewing 300 is aimed at helping providers and graduate students take the next step in MI training. This serial workshop will be for those providers with previous intermediate level MI training from workshops, their graduate program, or other formal study. To enroll in MI 300, participants need to certify that they’ve had, at the very least, 2-4 days of previous MI trainings or graduate training. All MI 300  participants are expected to be working toward MI proficiency goals as outlined in the MITI 4.2 coding system. MI 300 participants can include psychologists, public health workers, LPC’s, LMFT’s, psychiatrists, NP’s, dentists, PT’s, ND’s, substance-use counselors, nutritionists, diabetes educators, or grad students from these fields.

Motivational Interviewing 300 [14 hours CE total] will be delivered in a small and extended format serial workshop. The number of participants is limited [N <12] to enhance learning. MI 300 will be completed over four 3½ hour meetings so participants may practice skills from this and other’s trainings, and utilize in their work settings. MI 300 participants can attend in-person or telephonically via ZOOM. Learning materials are staged, and presented with a didactic component, and with conceptually coupled MI skill development. MI skill development will be accomplished through role play training, and some “live” tape submissions to be coded for MI fidelity. Participants are expected to make at least 2 tapes from their work or via “real plays” with other workshop participants. Tapes will be self-coded, then coded by the trainer or assistants. MI 300’s coding and learning process is focused though the lens of MITI 4.2 coding system’s proficiency goals.

Motivational Interviewing 300 is a part of a 3-workshop series [MI 100, MI 200, MI 300] that stretches over 6-12 months of study, coaching, feedback, and coded work samples. Evidence-based learning principles such as interleaving, re-testing, and self-testing are embedded into the workshops to facilitate better retention and use of the skills in the work place. As with MI 100 and MI 200, MI 300 is consistent with principles from Motivational Interviewing [3rd Edition] and more recent works.
