MIA: STEP (Motivational Interviewing Assessment: Supervisory Steps for Enhancing Proficiency)

MIA:STEP (Motivational Interviewing Assessment: Supervisory Tools for Enhancing Proficiency) is a course for clinical supervisors who want to enhance the MI skills of counselors and other direct service providers.  This is an advanced program and attendees must have MI training as a prerequisite.  This training focuses on tools to measure MI and is not an MI training.

Participants will leave this training with the knowledge, skills, and materials to supervise and enhance the quality of clinical work in MI.

Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the training, participants will:

·      Demonstrate an ability to utilize MIA:STEP manual in supervision

·      Utilize the MI adherence and competence rating system to provide clinicians with consistent feedback and supervision

·      Demonstrate an ability to use MIA:STEP tools to supervise and support clinicians in MI

·      Practice using the MIA:STEP learning plan to set goals and objectives to support and enhance counselors proficiency in MI.
