Motivational Interviewing: Beyond the Basics

Take your Motivational Interviewing practice to the next level. If you have started doing MI but sometimes aren't sure what do say next, or if you want to brush up your skills learned in a workshop a few years ago, this workshop is for you. Geared toward clinicians with a basic background and some experience in MI, this workshop will update participants on recent developments in MI theory, evidence base, and best practices, and will include opportunities for self-assessment and hands-on practice.

Objectives:
  • Describe the current theoretical and empirical basis for Motivational Interviewing.
  • Identify the four processes of Motivational Interviewing.
  • Demonstrate strategic use of MI core skills to strengthen motivation to change.

Target Audience: Psychologists, Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Addiction Counselors and Certified Counselors. 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1, ANCC, SW, NAADAC, NBCC. Please check back for further accreditation.

Community Fee - $75.00; VA Staff Fee 25.00 - fees increase by $10 2 weeks prior to program date.
