Distance Advanced - Instructor-led 5 weekly sessions

What: This online instructor-led course is designed for practitioners with a solid foundation in Motivational Interviewing (MI) who are seeking to enhance their competence in using this evidence-based practice. Participants will engage in learning through a blend of live webcasts, written materials, exercises, and practice opportunities with peer and instructor feedback in learning circles. The course will cover the four process of MI and other key concepts introduced in the 3rd edition of Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change (Miller and Rollnick, 2013) and will help participants strengthen their skills in using complex reflections, eliciting and responding to preparatory and mobilizing change talk, analyzing practice audiotapes using observation sheets based on the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity instrument, and helping people plan for change.

When: Meets online weekly on Wednesdays, from May 7, 2014 through June 4, 2014 (5 sessions) 2:00 – 3:00 pm Eastern (includes weekly live meetings, self-directed learning, and practice with feedback in learning circles led by MINT trainers)
