Intermediate Motivational Interviewing

This interactive workshop seeks to build the skills of practitioners who have learned the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing and are interested in further expanding their proficiency.  Participants will learn how to move through the four processes (engagement, focusing, evoking and planning) and know how to prevent traps that lead to discord-caused sustain talk (due to practitioners behavior) and resistance to change.   Participants will further augment the empathic skills of reflective listening and practice complex reflections and expand the ways to respond to change talk to maximize the commitment to change.  To maximize learning, the workshop will include use of mutimodal experiential activities, role-plays, demonstrations, video clips, and review activities to create a dynamic learning experience.
