Re-energizing MI in your Practice

Do you want to re-energize your Motivational Interviewing skill set?

 If the answer is “Yes” then this workshop is for you! This workshop is designed for behavioral/health professionals who have had prior exposure to Motivational Interviewing.

We will focus on skills practice and group feedback with coaching toward improving clinical skills for addressing behavior change. This training will give participants an opportunity for additional skills practice and development of core MI skills.

Workshop Goals:

  • Identify the dynamics of the four processes of Motivational Interviewing
  • Review Core MI skills that are currently working for the practitioner
  • Recognize and practice strategic directional Motivational Interviewing skills
  • Evaluate  feedback in Motivational Interviewing practice behaviors
  • Develop a personal plan for incorporating Motivational Interviewing skills into current practice.

Trainers:

Kate Speck, PhD, MAC, LADC has over 35 years’ licensed experience in addictions with a Master of Addictions in conjunction with an MA in Adult Education.  She is Senior Research Manager at the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center, and teaches graduate courses in addictions. She has a strong background in training and education, prevention and treatment settings, substance abuse prevention/intervention, addiction in families, and pregnant and parenting women. Kate is a member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2000, and provides training and technical assistance nationally in the use of Motivational Interviewing.  She is also a Master Trainer for Clinical Supervision Foundations, Psychological First Aid and Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk, and SBIRT.

Alex Waitt, MS, MSEd, Founder of Fox & Bee Associates, LLC, provides quality training that supports clinical growth..  Building teams to work utilizing their strengths to increase team performance and client outcomes is a core skill. Alex has a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology in addition to a Master’s of Science in Education with a concentration in Adult Learning.  He has considerable experience working in crisis intervention and as a child and adolescent counselor. Alex is a member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2014, and enhances training with an energetic and unique style.
