Group MI: a 2 Day Skills Building Event

Group MI is suitable for many settings including:

Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Corrections, Medical Care, Health Education

Course Content: This two-day, hands-on workshop is specifically designed for clinician and non-clinician professionals and will provide an overview of principles and practices of MI in groups. Professionals from mental health, substance use, corrections, and medical settings could benefit from this practice-rich experiential workshop. The workshop will be facilitated by a pair of MINT trainers with extensive training, coaching, clinical, and research experience, including internationally recognized Group MI expert and co-author of Motivational Interviewing in Groups, Karen Ingersoll. Workshop material will reflect the most up to date MI content and new concepts from Miller and Rollnick’s 2013 updated Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change (3rd Edition). The workshop features an active learning format with extensive opportunities to practice and receive individualized feedback. A small trainer to participant ratio will be maintained to allow for individualized feedback during group simulations.

Prerequisites: Participants should have received prior introductory training in motivational interviewing and/or be proficient in general group therapy techniques. Those with neither MI training nor group therapy experience may find the course content too advanced.

Included in the Workshop Fee: Course materials, breakfast and afternoon refreshments daily.

Course Credits: Certificate of Completion will be provided to all participants
