I am a MINT-Certified MI trainer and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in integrated medical settings. My passion for this work, and specifically for providing MI training, has grown out of my first-hand experience with how MI has transformed my relationships with patients and my effectiveness as a clinician.
I have experience using an MI approach directly with patients to support them in making long-term behavioral changes to improve self-management of chronic health conditions. I also have experience in bringing tailored MI training to healthcare professionals working in a range of clinical roles and medical settings.
I specialize in working with healthcare organizations to bring MI training and ongoing learning support to their healthcare staff. I provide both online and in-person training options for groups of healthcare professionals.
Healthcare professionals who participate in tailored MI training will learn evidence-based approaches to evoke their patients' motivation for health behavior change. Examples of potential "target behaviors" include improving eating and exercise behaviors, medical adherence, attendance at healthcare appointments, following through on referrals, and addressing smoking and substance use behaviors.
