2 Day Motivational Interviewing Workshop for Beginners

This 2-day interactive workshop provides participants with a foundation for building knowledge and skills in Motivational Interviewing, as well as hands-on practice applying those skills and strategies to specific situations. We will focus on learning which clinician behaviors yield the best results, using demonstrations, videos, small group exercises, “real-plays” and role-plays to learn about engaging people at different stages of readiness, including practicing strategies for working with "difficult people."

Perfect for Health and Human Services Professionals, including Social Workers, Therapists, Mental Health Professionals, Career and Employment Counselors, Physicians, Dentists, Dietitians, Oral Hygienists, Nurses, Case Managers, Coaches, Corrections Professionals, Housing Workers, Managers, Supervisors, and anyone who wants to learn some tips for motivating people in challenging situations. 

Great for those beginning their Motivational Intervieiwing practice or those who've had some training but want more practice.  The workshop fee includes lunch, parking, and materials.

Participants will learn to: 

1. Demonstrate to clients or patients that you care about them and their concerns.
2. Identify client/patient readiness to change.
3. Reduce defensiveness and build engagement. 
4. Use a step-by-step process for moving people through ambivalence about change.
